Bringing a community centered grocery store to New London.

Since The Big Store closed its doors in 2009 residents of the City of New London and surrounding area have had to drive at least five miles to shop at a grocery store. For years, talk around town often focused on the desire for a grocery store to return to town.

In 2018 a group of community members sought to answer that call.

An initial community interest meeting was met with overwhelming support and the organizing effort was begun immediately.

Through ups downs as well as a global pandemic in the New London Food Cooperative opened it’s doors in March 2024 at 14 1St Ave SE New London, MN with the support of 300 community members.
