Questions We get
Why Do we Need a co-op?
New London doesn’t have a grocery store. Not only would it be nice to have grocery store staples nearby, but imagine how convenient it would be to walk to a store with delicious fresh produce, dairy, and meat would be?
When will the co-op open?
Our goal is to have a storefront open by Spring of 2020. Depending on how quickly we can build our member base and secure funding, this date could be closer or further out.
Where will the co-op be located?
We’re looking at several different locations, but all of them are within walking distance of downtown New London.
When will i have to renew my membership?
365 days from the store opening you will be asked to renew your co-op membership for $20 per year. Your initial membership fee is nonrefundable.
What are the benefits of being a co-op member?
Outside of helping support the growth of your community, the membership fee gets you:
- 24/7 Access With Key Card
- 5% Off Every Purchase
- 10% Off Pre-Order Bulk Quantities
- Member Day – 10% Off Everything
- Voting Rights on Major Decisions
What are the goals and timelines of the co-op?
These are subject to change based on how quickly we hit them, but here’s our plan:
- 50 Members: we vote on a name
- 100 Members: we open a bank account and start looking for a storefront
- 300 Members: we settle on a storefront
- 600 Members: that’s half of New London!
